First of all, Matariki is a Maori New Year. This is celebrated due to indication for a fortunate feast. There are many myths about Matariki, but this is my factual report on this cultural event.

As I said before, Matariki is celebrated of indication for a fortunate feast. But it's also celebrated to be with family. It's like Christmas time when families get together, and just have a good time.

Matariki is celebrated in the final period of May each year. In the night sky, you are able to see a cluster of bright stars. Particularly in an arrow formation.

There are many stories of the Seven Stars... Or shall I say the 'Seven Sisters'. Yes, the Seven Sisters. There are many myth's about how their presence came about. Like the story of Tawhirimatea; the God of Winds and storms, ripped his eyes out and placed them in the sky. Fascinating, right?

The Seven Stars of Matariki also have other names as well. Including the Seven Sisters, of course, and 'the Pleiades'.

The End.
