Why do some countries have easier access to water than others?

DID YOU KNOW?

A third of the worlds population is enduring some form of water scarcity.

Access to water is mainly a crisis for the poor. More than 2 thirds of those without water survive on less than $2 a day.

Either the poor are excluded because of a lack of legal rights to claim adequate water or they fall outside the scope of limited infrastructure that serves largely to the rich.

The water crisis hits rich cities as well. Houston and Sydney are using more water than is replenished. Australia is the worlds driest continent. Large parts of Europe are also affected by recurring droughts.

Millions of people live under a threshold of "water stress". As rivers dry up, lakes shrink, and ground-water reserves get depleted, more and more people will suffer with limited water.
