Unrestricted Submarine Warfare

  • they wished to provoke a reaction from the Americans, which worked as this is the main reason America joined the war.

Start of WWI

  • a main catalyst of WWI was a Serbian nationalist assassinating Archduke Francis Ferdinand in Bosnia

Global Spread of WWI

  • overwhelming feelings of nationalism, ethnic conflicts, economic endeavors, and an intense battle between countries all over the world for power

Total War

  • WWI was a Total War as it involved the governments, economies, and populations to an intensity never seen before
  • this was in contrast to the much smaller wars fought before WWI

Women in WWI

  • women worked in munitions factories
  • this lead to a shift in the role women played, women had to fill in the position of the men who were off at war
  • helped speed up women's suffrage

Propaganda
