POLLUTION IN JAPAN

EXPLANATION OF ISSUE

• after world war 2 Japan upgraded its economy
• some induteries were built on water fronts causing pollution in water

who is most effected

• places like Tokyo and northern Japan are most effected
• Northern Japan depends a lot on fish for food but fish get polluted in the water causing minamata disease
• minamata disease is a disease caused by eating fish that are polluted.

GOVERNMENT AND PEOPLE RESPONSE

• Many local environmental groups have been formed
• Some people are just adapting because they work at the industries and need money
• Government is now fining the industries if anybody dies of any diseases caused by pollution
