ARTWORK DESCRIPTION
The piece has harmonious colors with the contrasting purples and oranges. It also depicts movement of the fiery oranges toward the top left corner. There are also implied lines of the rock formations and the fire.

RESEARCH
The artist, Michael McKee, is known for his Giclée prints. His pieces appear to be rather modern and he also tends to use vibrant colors. I think he was trying to depict what the Milky Way would look like sitting over that spot. McKee and his wife make frequent visits to New Mexico and he says he is always inspired by the colors, texture, and landscape-- which is very prominent in this piece.
This was actually the first piece I was drawn too because of the stars and the beautiful colors. I think that the artist did a wonderful job and stayed true to his initial inspirations.
