CAUSE OF DISEASE

  • Caused by mutations in the Wilson's disease protein

HOW A PERSON INHERITS THE DISEASE

  • Both parents must carry one genetic mutation

  • Equally occurs in men and women
  • Most people with the disease don't have relatives with it
  • Symptoms show normally between 6 and 20 years
  • Liver transplants can be a sucessful cure
