properties of water lab by Kincaid, Josie, and Emily

Published on Nov 18, 2015

Shows the results of a lab testing the main properties of water

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

PROPERTIES OF WATER LAB

Kincaid, Josie, and Emily- block E

LAB 1- MOVING WATER

Capillary Action- caused by adhesion; water is attracted to the towel

LAB 1- RESULTS

LAB 2- SOLUTIONS & SUSPENSIONS

After adding cornstarch= suspension

LAB 2 RESULTS- AFTER ADDING SALT

=solution; dissolved but can be separated

LAB 2 RESULTS- AFTER 15 MINUTES

LAB 3- TOTALLY TUBULAR

Capillary Action- H2O is attracted to glass molecule through adhesion

LAB 4- ICE ICE BABY

Density Of Solid vs. Liquid/ ice cube in water

LAB 4 RESULTS- ICE IN ALCOHOL

Ice sinks because alcohol is less dense

LAB 5- PENNY, PENNY, PENNY!

  • Cohesion- water is attracted to other water molecules
  • Adhesion- the water is attracted to the penny

LAB 5 RESULTS- TOUCHED BY TOOTHPICK

LAB 5- RESULTS
the water bubble fell apart because soap broke the cohesion between the water molecules

LAB 5- RESULTS
The penny did not fit as much water because adding soap on the penny broke the adhesion between the water and penny

LAB 6- FLOATING CLIPS

Surface tension= paperclip floats

LAB 6- RESULTS
After touching it with soap the paperclip sunk= cohesion breaks= water tension breaks

THE END :)
