Ask questions DURING class!

If you ask a question in class, it is very likely that at least one other student has the same question that you have. Asking questions during class is extremely helpful and can lead to other important conversations.

Seek one on one help outside of class! I am available before school, at break, lunch, and after school.

I am available often and would love to help you better understand your class work! I can even create some practice problems for you to work through with me to make sure that you understand the content. I am here as early as 7:30 AM and can help you until 3:30 PM, if needed. Make sure you ask me for a lunch pass if you would like to visit me during lunch.

Take notes during class!

Include example problems that we work through.
Taking ORGANIZED notes in your math notebook during class is very important. We will often work through sample math problems on the whiteboard together. These problems will be good study tools for you to look at when studying for quizzes and tests. Additionally, I will frequently have key points and terms written on the whiteboard that will be helpful to write in your notes. I even allow you to use your notes on quizzes!

AWESOME extra help websites!

There are so many excellent math resources available to YOU! The list of websites that I included have a mixture of sample math problems and videos that can help you. Please see me and I can help you create an account on one or more of these websites. Best of all, they teach you how to be successful with the new Common Core math curriculum! If you do not have internet access at home, take advantage of our awesome school library.

Most importantly...

listen, listen, listen !
Actively listening during class will help you absorb the material and go home with less questions.

If you follow these tips, I am confident that you will find success in math this year!

Work hard, ask questions, take notes, seek help, come to class prepared, and SMILE! Keep a positive attitude and you will accomplish great things in math this year!
