Holy Roman emperor Joseph II was born in Vienna, Austria, on March 13, 1741. He became co-regent with his mother, Maria Theresa, in 1765, and sole ruler in 1780. During his time in power, Joseph issued decrees that promoted equality and education, but the speed and scope of his reforms led to problems for him and his empire. Joseph died in Vienna on February 20, 1790, at the age of 48.

Maria Theresa
Maria Theresa was an Austrian archduchess, and Holy Roman Empress of the Habsburg Dynasty from 1740 to 1780. She was also Marie Antoinette’s mother.

Maria Theresa was the most important ruler of the age of Enlightened Absolutism and one of the most famous Habsburgs. She took over the reins of government on the death of her father Charles VI and implemented numerous enduring reforms. A strict Catholic, she showed little tolerance towards members of other confessions. She bore her husband Franz Stephan sixteen children and was subsequently idealized as a model of maternal devotion.

Joseph II was more of the nice guy, kinda let everything go at eas. One of His Political Goals was to Modernize Dependence and the Church
