Yellow Hat

• Kills stoats which are responsible for 60% of kiwi deaths
• Kills rats which eat native bird chicks
• Kills possums which carry TB and kill native plants and animals
• Helps stop possums infecting cow and deer herds with TB
• The number of North Island Whio has greatly increased since 1080 air drops have begun.

Black Hat

• Is very toxic to dogs
• Has no cure so, if a human eats it it will be fatal
• When a possum dies from 1080 its carcass can take up to six months to decompose, therefore other animals could die from eating it
• Kills a lot of not targeted species including birds, dogs and cats
• Kills up to 20,000 deer every year

Red Hat

• I don't think that 1080 poison should be used.
• It kills too many other spieces
• In the U.S.A 1080 poison is illegal so I don't think that it should be used in NZ
