CHILDHOOOD

  • He was born Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli
  • Born on November 25, 1881 as the fourth child in a family of 14
  • His family were sharecroppers
  • Entered the Bergamo
  • Began the practice of making spiritual notes

EARLY RELIGIOUS LIFE

  • Entered the Bergamo seminary in 1892
  • Began writing spiritual notes there
  • In 1896, he was admitted in the Secular Franciscan Order by Fr. Luigi Isacchi
  • On August 10, 1904 he was ordained a priest in the church

Papal Life

  • Elected Pope October 28, 1958
  • His Pontificate lasted 5 years
  • He was presented as an authentic image of the "Good Shepherd"

MODEL OF MORALITY

  • His saying was "no one is excluded by love"
  • He related his life to the beatitudes because he believed in love for all
  • He also related his life to the greatest commandment through love

LIVING AS "CHURCH"

  • He strived to live as church; visited prisons, etc
  • Advocated community and promoted justice
