CAMELS

• Trade started around 300-400 C.E. In North Africa
• They were very efficient, and made trans-Sahara trade possible.
• Used more as pack animals instead of human transportation.

CAMEL SADDLES

• They were first introduced to North Africa around 1200 C.E.
• Increased amount of load one camel could carry.
• They encouraged the formation of large camel caravans and increased trade.
