  • There are two basic options when recording an album
  • 1. Studio Sessions
  • 2. DIY (self produced)

RECORDING IN A STUDIO...

  • High quality sound.
  • Easy to multi-track and overlay vocals and instrumentals
  • Professionally trained techs assist in mixing
  • Producers can be hired to help develop a specific sound
  • However, studios sessions can be very expensive

DIY...

  • Record on your schedule
  • Mix it exactly how you want
  • Multiple tools are available for any budget
  • However you need to know exactly what you are doing AND you must provide all the equipment.

RECORDING: STEP BY STEP

  • Practice practice practice
  • Separate your instruments (if possible) and mic up
  • Record your drum tracks
  • Record vocals and instrumentals
  • Bounce down and mix your tracks

  • Upload your album to the internet
  • Send it to a radio station
  • Sell or give away copies
  • The rest is up to you!
