EMT STANDS FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL Technician

FORMED IN 1975

REQUIREMENTS

  • 18 years or older
  • Have completed a state approved EMT course that meets the standards of the National Emergency Medical Services educational standards for being an EMT
  • Your program director has to verify that you completed and that you did it successfully
  • You have to complete a National Registry online application you have to pay $70 for EMT & $110 for Paramedic each time you have to take it
  • In order to get a National EMT certification you have to complete a cognitive and psychomotor exam

  • Patient Assessment-Medical
  • Ventilatory Management
  • Cardiac Arrest Management
  • IV & Medication Skills
  • Pediatric Intraosseous Infusion Skills
  • Spinal Immobilization(supine patient)
  • Random EMT Skills

EMT RECEIVE AN ENORMOUS SATISFACTION FROM PROVIDING A PUBLIC SERVICE TO VICTIMS WITH SUDDEN ILLNESSES OR ACCIDENTS

CONTINUAL EDUCATION

IS REQUIRED EVERY 3YRS YOU HAVE TO TAKE A TEST

HAVE MORE JOB OPPORTUNITIES AND CAN WORK IN OTHER PLACES THAN JUST THE ER LIKE WORKING IN AN URGENT CARE

PARAMEDIC- $46,017

Not every call is as dramatic like on Greys Anatomy. For proper care of the patient it's the EMT/Paramedic job to assess their situation and transport them to a medical facility.

It's fairly easy to get a job

Their is no such thing as a routine you never know when your going to get the call.
