Dr.King was a vivid civil rights activist.
In the 60's racism and the unfair treatment of blacks was common.
African American people were treated badly ,especially in the south.
Martin Luther King stud up for blacks and their rights.
He spent countless hours striving for the rights of black Americans.
He was even put in jail for protesting.
HIS MOST FAMOUS SPEECH WAS HIS "I HAVE A DREAM" SPEECH.

On April 4th 1968 Dr.King was shot and killed when he walked outside his hotel door.
He was shot by an angry white man named James Earl Ray.
