PHYSICAL FEATURES OF SNOW LEOPARDS

  • Nose: heats cold outside air before it enters the lungs
  • Fur: helps with camouflage
  • Large paws: help to avoid sinking in the snow
  • Short front legs and long hind legs to help leap up to 30 ft
  • Long tail helps keep balance.

BEHAVIORAL FEATURES OF SNOW LEOPARDS

  • Crepuscular Activity Pattern
  • Markings on ground serve for communication
  • Scent markings
  • Solitary nature

BEHAVIORAL FEATURES CONTINUED

  • Gestational Period: between January and Mid-March
  • Travel for days, then return to solitude
  • Female takes all responsibility for offspring
  • Prey: Blue sheep, Argali sheep, Asiatic Ibex
  • Omnivore
