Religion plays a huge role in Night for most of the story.

It is a huge part of Elie’s childhood. Religion surrounds him as he grows up, because mostly everyone around him is Jewish.

At first, Religion is really important, and plays a huge role in Elie’s life.

When Elie is first in the camps, he is terrified, and doesn't know what to do.

He prays for his life, his father, and the rest of his family. His religion gives him hope that everything will eventually be alright.

He had been through so much at the camps that he started to no longer believe in God, because nothing was getting better, and all of the atrocities he was experiencing were not stopping.

In conclusion, religion’s role in Night decreases as time goes on.

At first, it played a huge role in the story, as it was all around him.

But as time went on, Elie began to lose faith, and religion played a much smaller role in the story.
