• Civil unrest caused violence and it became an unstable environment

DIFFICULTIES WE FACED THROUGHOUT OUR JOURNEY:

• Separated from family
• Prejudice people and discrimination
• Limited space, limted amount of food and water
• Limited items allowed to travel with often left sentimental items
• Often didn't pass physical exams upon arrival

JOBS AND SETTLEMENT

• We lived on Angel Island
• We worked on the railroads in West America
• We worked in wool mills, and cigar, shoe, and garment industries
• We worked as small time merchants, gardeners, laundry workers, farmers
