VITAMIN B FUNCTIONS

  • Needed for growth
  • Maintance of healthy nerve tissue
  • Formation of normal red blood cells

RDA & FOODS

  • Males &females 14 and over 2.4micrograms per day
  • Meat,poultry, fish,eggs and dairy products

DEFECIENCIES

  • Red painful tongue and tingling burning in skin.
  • Nerve damage can eventually lead to walking difficulties
  • Paralysis.

VITAMIN C FUNCTIONS

  • Acids in the formation of collagen
  • Increases iron and calcium absorption
  • Helps prevent cell damage

RDA

  • Males ages 14 to 18, 75 milligrams per day
  • After age 19 it increases to 90milligrams per day
  • Females ages 14-18, is 65 milligrams per day
  • After age 19 increases 75 per day
