THE THIRD CRUSADE

THE START AND WHY

• The third crusade happened between 1187-1192
• It was lead by Richard the lion hart who was respected all over europe
• The third crusade happened to recapture the holy land from the muslims
• The holy land was holy because it was where Jesus Christ lived
• If you went to fight for holy you were promised a ticket to heaven by righting all your wrongs

FACTS

• Saladin was the enemy of the english crusades
• Only the first and third crusades were succesful in taking over the holy land
• Crusades began with christians and muslims fighting over the holy land
• About 300,000 people died during the third crusade
• Frederic the first of Germany drowned in a river on the journey to the third crusade

FEELINGS

• Christians could have felt angry that others took over the home of their god
• The christians maybe felt that their god was sad because the muslims took over the land

POSTIVIE/NEGTIVE

• Positive for the christians is that two crusades were succesful
• Negtive for the christians all the other crusades failed
