Description- farming began in Mesoamerica 9,000 to 10,000 years ago.
Meso comes from the Greek word "middle". Much of Mesoamerica had a rich,volcanic soil and a mild climate.
Where- includes lands stretching from the Valley of Mexico to Costa Rica in Central America.
Who- The Americas
Teotihuacán
Description- first planned city; it had a population of between 120,000 to 200,000 people.

Description- founded in A.D. 1100;is a capital
Where- north of Mesoamerica
Who- the Inca group
Cahokia
Description- largest city;may have had 30,000 people;remains of this city can be found in southwestern Illinois
