PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Nuclear Energy

The Pros and Cons of it

What It Is

Nuclear energy is the process of using radioactive elements reacting with each other to heat water which powers a turbine.

Pro

Cost Effective

Once it has been started, it will be able to maintain itself for a low cost

Pro

Powerful

Nuclear energy can produce a lot of electricity for users

Pro

Plentiful

There is a lot of uranium in the world and the amount of it is growing according to statistics

Con

Waste heat

It produces excess heat after it creates the energy but it is possible to recycle waste heat and use it again

Con

Pollution

After the energy is made by the reaction, a radioactive waste is created that must be disposed of carefully or many could die from its toxicity.

Con

Habitat Loss

The end result takes up a large portion of land and could affect ecosystems or other animals living there

Con

N.I.M.B.Y.

Although it is fairly safe and very powerful, if something does happen, it can be disastrous such as the Fukushima power-plant incident

Conclusion

Although there are many opinions about nuclear energy, in this presentation you have seen that there are more negative aspects then there are positive
