• This energy moves through the air and matter through vibrations.

Acoustic Energy- transmission of energy through matter by particle oscilliation(back and forth motion)

Acoustic energy, when present, always moves through matter; it cannot move through a vacuum (a region lacking matter).

In contrast, thermal energy is always present in matter, but it moves or is exchanged only between points of different temperatures.

Acoustic energy causes particles to move in periodic motion consisting of back-and-forth vibrations.

The periodic motion of particles occurs as their kinetic and potential energies are repeatedly exchanged.

When acoustic energy is transferred, the distance that the particles move is usually much larger than the size of the particles.
