PLOW

  • The plow was invented around 6,000 B.C.
  • The first plow was called ARD.
  • Sumerians developed a wooden plow to help them in the fields.

WHEEL

  • Mesopotamians invented the wheel.
  • They invented the wheel so they could travel easier.
  • The wheel was also invented to travel objects easier.

CALENDAR

  • Summerians created the calendar.
  • Periods in the calendar are usually synchronized with the cycle of the sun or moon.
  • A calendar can also be a physicsl device.

CUNEIFORM

  • Cuneiform was a form of writing created by the sumerians.
  • Cuneiform was formed about 3,000 B.C.
  • By using a sharp object and using clay they could make cuneiform

SAILBOAT

  • Sumerians invented the sailboat.
  • The invention of the sailboat was a great step forward in history.
  • sumerians needed the sailboat so they could trade with nearby cities and countries.

CODE OF HAMMURABI

  • Hammurabi was a ruler.
  • He was known to create laws for his empire.
  • The code of Hammurabi was invented back in 1772 B.C.
  • Hammurabi's code influenced later law codes, such as those of Greece and Rome.

IRRIGATION

  • Irrigation is the application of water to land or soil.
  • Irrigation has been a central feature or agriculture for over 5,000 years.
  • They dug pipes or canals to let the water run through the ground

NUMBER SYSTEMS

  • A number system can represent a useful set of numbers or tell time
  • Summerians invented the first number system
  • The number system is based on 60 minutes
