PRINCE JEN SUMMATIVE COLLAGE

BY MARKO HENNIN

Leadership:
I think that Jen learned about leadership because at first he was going to Tien-Kuo to learn how to govern his kingdom, but over the course of his journey, he learned how to govern his kingdom and he became a leader, not a follower of the king of Tien-Kuo's ways. Everybody was following what he did because they knew that he was a great leader and that he would lead them back to the kingdom. Many words can be used to sum up what leadership means, so here are more words that could describe what Prince Jen learned on his journey.

Friendship:
Jen found many friends along his journey. Here are some of them. Voyaging Moon, Mafoo, Moxa, All of the Masters, and the fisherman. Without friends to help you, you can't become a good leader like Jen. Without his friends, Jen would not be where he was when the story ended.

Courage:
Jen showed a lot of courage over the course of his journey. Here are some examples. First of all, just deciding to go on the journey showed courage. Jen could have just lay low while somebody else made the journey but no, he decided to challenge himself. Another example of Jen's courage is when he decided to stand up against Natha in the cave. Even though he lost his sword, he proved that he wouldn't run from Natha's devilish ways. Lastly, Jen showed courage when he stood up for Master Chu when he was accused of stealing royal property. Jen knew that there would be some sort of punishment, but he didn't care. He put his friend before him, and that showed courage.

Knowledge:
Jen had learned many things along his journey, some was learned from others, and some was learned from himself. For example, Master Shu had taught Jen the phrase that "You must know nothing before you can learn something, and be empty before you can be filled. Is not the emptiness of the bowl what makes it useful?" Also, Master Shu also told Jen about the tale of Foolish Yang and the shoes.

Kindness:
Jen showed so much kindness along his journey. For example, when he gave Voyaging Moon the magical flute, or when he gave his kite to Fragrance of Orchid. Those were gifts that were meant for Yuan-Ming, but since Jen was so kind, he gave them away for other people's benefit. Soon, he had given away all of his gifts. It seemed like no benefit would come from giving all of those people his gifts, but at the end of the story, they all came back to save his life.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, Jen learned much over the course of his journey, such as friendship, courage, knowledge, and kindness. I think that these words can be used to sum it up in just one word, which is leadership.
