7 REGIONS OF THE WORLD

CANADA AND THE UNITED STATES

  • Home to the Rocky Mountains, Niagara Falls, and The Great Lakes.
  • Highest populations are found in New York, Toronto, and L.A.
  • Both the U.S. And Canada are separated into smaller regions.
  • Agriculture, manufacturing, logging, and oil drilling are all part of the economy.
  • These nations are mostly Christian and are known as cultural melting pots.

LATIN AMERICA

  • The Andes Mountains, Amazon Rainforest, and Amazon River are found here.
  • Has densely populated cities such as Rio de Janeiro.
  • Most countries are small, but there are a few large ones.
  • Home to oil drilling, manufacturing, and farming.
  • Mostly Christian nations, but also home to ancient civilizations .

EUROPE AND RUSSIA

  • Swiss Alps, Siberia, and the English Channel are all found here.
  • Western Europe is more populated than Eastern Europe and Russia.
  • The Soviet Union used to control Eastern Europe, but now most of Europe is part of the European Union.
  • There is a lot of trade and manufacturing. Commuting for work is also common.
  • Mostly Christian and Islamic countries. The rich cultural history is evident in this region.

AFRICA

  • The Sahara is in Northern Africa and Mt. Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain there.
  • The Sahara is not very populated, but the southern part of the region is.
  • There are many smaller countries in this region.
  • Large producer of coffee, cotton, and manufactured goods.
  • The first humans lived here. Mostly Islamic nations.

SOUTHWEST AND CENTRAL ASIA

  • Many islands, but mostly plains and grasslands.
  • China and Japan are densely populated.
  • Many island nations. Lots of wars over country boundaries.
  • Large exporter of manufactured goods. Formerly traded with European sailors.
  • Mostly Buddhist nations. Ancient Chinese dynasties ruled the region.

MONSOON ASIA

  • Home to the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest.
  • Heavily populated in India and Pakistan.
  • Mostly small nations, formerly colonized by European countries.
  • Large exporter of manufactured goods.
  • Hinduism and Sikhism are the most popular religions. Home to the Taj Mahal and Ganges river.

OCEANIA AND AUSTRALIA

  • Mostly grasslands.
  • Australian cities have the largest population.
  • Australia is the largest country in the region.
  • Most things in this region are relatively expensive.
  • Mostly Christian region, but lots of indigenous peoples.
