Desertification is where fertile soil turns into part of the desert.
Causes are silt turnes hard when it was hit by rain. Therefore, plants were not able to grow because there roots could not penetrate this hard layer.
Desertification reduces the ability of land to support life, affecting wild species, domestic animals, agricultural crops and people. The reduction in plant cover that accompanies desertification leads to accelerated soil erosion by wind and water.
The desert going to expand in the next billion years.
