Imperialism
Meant new markets and raw materials .
Washington didn't like the idea of imperialism because of domestic issues and our limited military capacity which meant we focused on our issues and would have a small military
It was similar because it continued to expand but it was different this time because they started going overseas
On the positive side, a person is in charged of a country's economy and till this day the economy is balanced. On the negative side, maintaining countries may not be beneficial .
One good reason was to expand trade export opportunities to control shipping lanes to make the nation more secure and I think it's right because it was more helpful for the middle class and free under american culture .
