DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER

Dwight D. Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 to David and Ida Eisenhower in Demison Texas.

EARLY LIFE

• Grew up in Abilene Texas
• Was the third child among sevens sons
• He was raised in a rather poor family
• He played football and baseball at Abilene High School

His steps into the Military:

He graduated for high school in 1909

He did not have to pay for college because in 1911 he was accepted in to the United States Military Acedemy at West Point were he graduated in 1915

HIS INCREASING RANK

• After graduating from west point, he was commissioned as a 2nd LEUT.
• He married Mamie Doud in 1916, the same day he was promoted to 1st LEUT.
• By 1920, after serveral years of service, he was promoted to Major
• In 1924 he was accepted into the Command and General Staff School at Ft. Leavenworth, Texas
• In 1941, he was promoted to Brigadier General, then in 1942 he was promoted to Major General
