MONARCHY

  • Monarchy- When a king or queen rules over the people or kingdom
  • An example of a city state here is Sparta or Athens
  • The king and queen made the decisions for the kingdom.

  • A monarchy operates by making rules when they are needed.
  • People felt that they were more powerful together and over threw the monarchy.

ARISTOCRACY

  • an aristocracy is a form of government in which the ruling body is a small group
  • One city state that used aristocracy was Solon around 500 BC

ARISTOCRACY

  • The laws were made by a higher class of people.
  • These were the people that took part in the government .

  • These were a small group of people taking control of a government.
  • Athens in 4 BC is an example of a city state here.

  • Few people made the decisions, they were not elected by citizens.
  • The children were raised for ruling purposes.

  • This means cruel and unfair treatment with power from other people.
  • USA 1776 is an example of a tyrannical city state.

  • This is when a cruel ruler is in charge and is one person.
  • North Korea is an example of a country with tyranny.

TYRANNY

  • One man or woman makes or made the decisions.
  • Eventually the people tried to over throw the tyrant but failed.

DEMOCRACY

  • This is a form of government where the people get to choose their leader.
  • USA today is an example of a democratic country.

  • The people vote for a leader who then makes decisions for the country.
  • Fo example in the USA the president makes the decisions.
