OWLS

Owls are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day.

The owls eyes, ears, claws, and wings help them catch their prey.

The big eyes allow many rods to fit, allowing them to see at night.

Owl eyes are fixed in their heads because they don't have eye muscles. They can turn their head 270 degrees.

They owls eyes don't contain cones, so it sees in black and white.

An owl has uneven ear holes, which allows it to hear in three dimensions.

The owls claws are called talons.

Feathers on the owls leg protects it from the prey biting.

Owls can be silent when they fly because they have fringed feathers.

Owlets have to be three weeks old to swallow prey whole.

An owl pellet is the owl's food that cannot be digested.

Barn owls primarily feed on rodents.

Owls lay their eggs at two-day intervals so the food doesn't run out.

It is important for owlets to fly away as soon as possible so the food supply doesn't get too low.

Barn owls can live up to 20 years, but it nature normally doesn't allow it.
