Proportion: the ratio of one part, or of one part to the whole object.
This snow flake is an example of proportion because all of the outside features connect to the center to make the whole piece.

Symmetrical: achieved by placing identical objects on either side of the central point.
This butterfly is symmetrical because both of the sides are the same on both sides.

Asymmetrical: more difficult to achieve, because it is visuals weight, not exact objects.
This dress is asymmetrical because it's a dress not a lot of people would think to design and it's an interesting arrangement .

Rhythm: something that leads your eye one point to another. Creates 5 types of motion.
This is an example of rhythm because it's drawing your eyes from one spot to another .

Radiation: rhythm created by identical objects coming from central axis
This is an example of radiation because it's similar objects that are being connected to the center axis.

Opposition: rhythm created by lines meeting at right angles
This tall building is opposition because the top of it turns at right angle to connect another part of it.

Transition: rhythm created by curved lines that carry your eye across a straight surface.
This design would be example of transition because is a bunch of curved lines on a flat surface .

Harmony: the sensitive balance of variety and unity .
This is an example of harmony because their all dark colors and all of the furniture and colors go together .

Unity: everything works together to make a whole piece.
These hands represent unity because there all coming together to make one picture .

Variety: should create interest, create beauty.
This art piece is variety because there a bunch of different lines and colors creating one big picture that's interesting.
