ARCHIPELAGO

PENINSULA

  • a piece of land almost surrounded by water or projecting out into a body of water.

FJORD

  • a long, narrow, deep inlet of the sea between high cliffs.
  • The Fjords in eastern Africa

ESTUARY

  • An estuary is a partly enclosed coastal body of brackish water with one or more rivers or streams flowing into it.
  • Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in the Gulf of Mexico region

ATOLLS

  • a ring-shaped reef, island, or chain of islands formed of coral.
  • Tikehau in the Pacific Ocean

ISTHMUS

  • is a narrow piece of land connecting two larger areas across an expanse of water that otherwise separates them.
  • An isthmus in the Caribbean Sea

PLATEAU

  • an area of relatively level high ground consisting of relatively flat ground
  • The Edwards Plateau in eastern Texas

BAY

  • A bay is a body of water connected to an ocean or lake, formed by an indentation of the shoreline.
  • Corpus Christi Bay is a scenic semi-tropical bay on the Texas coast

ISLAND

  • is any piece of sub-continental land that is surrounded by water.
  • Oahu is an island in the mid-Pacific, part of the Hawaiian island chain and home to the state capital, Honolulu.

DELTA

  • a triangular tract of sediment deposited at the mouth of a river, typically where it diverges into several outlets.
