GREAT RIFT VALLEY

  • It was named in the nineteenth century by British explorer John Walter Gregory.
  • It is approximately 6,000 kilometers (3,700mi) in length.
  • It runs from northern Syria to central Mozambique in south east Africa.
  • The valley was originally thought to extend from
  • Lebanon in the north to Mozambique in the south.

SERENGETI PLAIN

  • It is located in north Tanzania and extends to south western Kenya.
  • It spans 30,000 km2 (12,000 sq mi).
  • The Serengeti hosts the largest terrestrial
  • mammal migration in the world.
  • It is one of the ten natural travel wonders of the world.
