A CAT LEGEND

Chrystal yawned as she woke. It was the very first day she had woken to such a nice and cozy plus beautiful place. She jumped off the leaf bed and her delicate paws touched the soft ground bed. It was the day where snow would fall and so far it had already covered part of the ground floor.

Chrystal turned to look at Ramanda, the leader of the cats. She had big blue eyes, and soft black fur, same as Chrystal. Chrystal admired her wonderful hunting and protecting skills. She wished one day that she could learn them from her.

Taramoon, the male cat leader, padded up to Chrystal and Ramanda. Ramanda smiled when she saw us. "Well, just as I had hoped for you to come. The snow could last for a hundred years. We must plan for each and every occasion," she spoke, her voice deep. "The snow will soon end, and we still need to hunt. Chrystal, why don't you look after Sunbeam?" Taramoon purred, his voice tingled. Chrystal nodded and bounded off to see her cousin who had just climbed out of bed. His eyes shone like diamonds and his body was as black as Chrystal's. Chrystal had even once thought that he should replace Taramoon.

Sunbeam smiled as he saw Chrystal dashing to him, sending up snow all around the cat's tents. "Good morning, Chrystal," he bowed, legs spread out. "Morning. Is the snow keeping you cold? Taramoon sent me to look for you," Chrystal bowed too. Sunbeam nodded slowly. "I am aware of the snow situation. I am just as worried as you are, Chrys," he placed his paw on Chrystal's back. "But we must stay strong. The kits are still too young to protect themselves." Chrystal immediately agreed. They padded over to Tolum, Rosebell's kit. He was playing with Frozen, his sister.

Sunbeam sighed. "I had always wished I could have mice to safe up for this troublesome occasion. It was only when mother left and I had to keep you from going too," he whispered, his voice trembling. Chrystal lowered her head. "I had not mean to, my dear cousin. Never in my whole life did I want to harm you. I have always wanted to stay the same. Never did I know mother was so eager to leave us alone," her voice was soft as she spoke. "I only wanted a wish. Freedom," she whispered as she padded over to the shiny lake. Sunbeam sighed and nodded. They had always wanted to live alone.
