crestfallen:

Disappointed and downcast

The crestfallen boy had recently dropped his lollipop.

Lugubrious:

Dismal, gloomy, and melancholy

The lugubrious teenager lost yet another friend.

ensconced:

Settled or hid securely or snugly

THe dog was ensconced within the tree.

Dilapidated:

PArtially ruined or decayed from age or neglect

The sight of the dilapidated barn made the girl wary.

Eminence:

A high or raised area of ground

The two sat upon the eminence and looked out over the town.

Hypercritical:

Overcritical or unreasonably critical

The overcritical parent set overly high standards for his child.

Morosely:

sullenly, moodily
