EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY COACH

ON-GOING, EMBEDDED, COLLABORATIVE PROFESSIONAL LEARNING

IMPROVING LEARNING OUTCOMES

NOT THE TECHNOLOGY-THE PROPER DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION
Research?

--Research available both for and against technology as improving learning

-- most research seems to show-technology is here to stay- when the technology is integrated properly with the instruction, that's what makes the difference

-- research supports 1:1 environment and increased daily use-- teachers and students have to use the device ALOT to improve student learning-- teachers have to be comfortable with the device and what it can do.

PROVIDE RESEARCHED BEST PRACTICES AND GENERATE IDEAS

MODEL, CO-PLAN, CO-TEACH, REFLECT
- overwhelming number of apps, resources, ideas

-"I don't know what I don't know"

- idea to simplify:
* app junky last two years! but through process have become more app savy
* pare down to 15-20 high quality, versatile apps that can be used at every level (core apps)
* highlight 2/3 apps per month and go into great depth on how they can be used ( Bridget)

Ex. Sept focus- remind 101, class dojo,

SET-UP AND LESSON PREPARATION

ACCOUNTS, SETTINGS, PASSWORDS
-challenge- setting up device at beginning of year---teacher gives me one device that is set up the way they want it

- challenge - apps need pulled down from purchased list, settings need adjusted, passwords need to be entered ( big universe)--- makes learning more fluent/ teachers less frustrated

- area where this may lighten the tech departments load
