PRESENTATION OUTLINE
BACKROUND
- Escher was a poor student and was slower to learn than his peers.
- He never had good grades on his core classes but was excellent at drawing.
- He failed high school exams and later enrolled into the school of Architecture & Decorative Arts
- M.C. Escher suffered from a variety of illnesses as a child.
- He had to be moved to the seaside town of Zandvoort as child in order to improve his health.
CAREER
- Eschers art mainly focused on twisting reality.
- His artwork was inspired by mathematics and optical illusions.
- In 1955, he was awarded the Knighthhod of the Order of Orange Nassau.
- Although Escher's work with strange geometry and mathematical impossibilities are his most famous works, he also made several realistic art pieces early in his career.
- On April 27, 1955, Escher was knighted in the name of Queen Juliana of the Dutch royal house.
FAMILY
- Escher met his wife in 1923 & married her in 1924.
- Eschers wifes name was Jetta Umiker.
- They were married from 1924 to 1972.
- Eschers parents are Sara Gleichman Escher & George Arnold Escher.
- He had 3 children named Giorgio Arnaldo, Jan, & Arthur Escher.
BEGINNING LIFE
- Escher was born June 17th, 1898, in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.
- He died on March 27th, 1972, in Lauren Netherlands & died of cancer.
- His nationality was dutch.
