PRESENTATION OUTLINE

The American Promise

What it means to my family and me

In my interview, my focus was women's rights. It bothers me that I would not have been treated equally if I had been born before the American Promise. Women's rights were virtually non-existent and though not perfect, they are much stronger and allow for more freedoms and opportunities today.

My Father went to Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. He talks about how important going to school was for him, because he was the second in his generation to attend college. Education in my family is very important, as we believe that education gets you better jobs, and more opportunities.

My mother believes that being able to speak your truth is part of what the American Promise provides. It is truly amazing to have be able to speak freely without fear of persecution. Many countries will not allow individuals to speak what they believe in, the truth they hold. Today, Americans have the luxury of freedom of speech.
