Major Organs

  • tongue
  • esophogus
  • stomach
  • pancreas, liver, and gallbladder
  • large and small intestines
The pancreas secretes digestive enzymes into the duodenum (first part of small intestine). The liver creates bile to help digest food and it is stored in the gallbladder until needed.

  • take in food
  • remove and absorb nutrients
  • expel the remaining waste

  • food goes in mouth
  • teeth chew to smaller pieces
  • saliva breaks the food down
  • tongue aides in swallowing

  • that process is peristalsis
  • further broken down in stomach
