HEPATITIS B VIRUS

WHERE IS IT MOST COMMON?

  • HBV is seen most is Asia, Africa and South America
  • Most people who get the disease are around 43
  • In Minnesota it is most common in African American people

HOW CAN YOU GET IT

  • HBV is transmitted through bodily fluids
  • You can get it if you,
  • Have sex with an infected person
  • Share needles
  • Borrow someones toothbrush or razor

SYMPTOMS

  • Feeling tired
  • Mild fever
  • Yellowish eyes and skin (jaundice)
  • Muscle aches and joint pains

COMPLICATIONS

  • Chronic HBV can cause
  • Liver cancer
  • And liver scarring

HOW IS IT TREATED

  • It is a virus and so your body must fight it naturally
  • Though you may take medicine for symptoms
  • Make sure to stay away from drugs and alcohol

PREVENTION

  • There is a vaccine against HPV
