After the Luiseño gathered all the acorns, they stored them in granaries.

The Luiseño used a hammerstone to take of the acorn shell. The winnowing tray is then used to take off the skins.

A mortar and a pestle were used to grind the acorns into a fine flour called meal.

The Luiseños used a process called leaching to remove the tannic acid from the acorn meal to make it edible.

Finally, they cooked the meal in an olla and stirred it with a paddle.
