Man vs. Society because when Beatrice is tested to be categorized in one of the 5 groups and her results are divergent which mean she has no category in society. People who are divergent are taken by the government because they fear they are dangerous.
She is going through her training to become a warrior.
This is the most intense part of the book because if she does not do well in the fights she must battle in she will not be accepted as a warrior and will have no catagory to go to.
Beatrice's work pays off and she is able to stay in the warrior category or group with the help of people like Tobis that help her train and react in her fights.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. My favourite parts were when Beatrice was training for her fight and during her aptitude test because both moments were very exiting and unpredictable. I liked the detail Roth put into each chapter it made it easy to picture what was going on and follow Beatrice in the book. The only thing I wished was changed abut the book is I would have liked the story told from an outside narrators prospective at times because I would have liked to know how Tobis felt at times in the story.
