• Beatrice is waiting to be categorized through a test called a aptitude test.
• Beatrice has mixed feelings of were she may end up and is very nervous and scared for her test.

Rising Action

• After the test Beatrice is determined to be divergent and is told being divergent can be very dangerous and she cannot let anyone find out.
• She choses the category of a warrior were her job is to protect.

Climax

• She is going through her training to become a warrior.
• This is the most intense part of the book because if she does not do well in the fights she must battle in she will not be accepted as a warrior and will have no catagory to go to.

Falling Action

• She is accepted in the warrior group.
• Her brother joins the smart category and through him she knows that the smart faction tries to manipulate her warrior faction.

Resolution

• Beatrice's work pays off and she is able to stay in the warrior category or group with the help of people like Tobis that help her train and react in her fights.

• Be yourself and don't change based on what others want you to be.

Narration

• First person point of view because Beatrice is telling the story from her prospective.

Reflection

• Overall I really enjoyed this book. My favourite parts were when Beatrice was training for her fight and during her aptitude test because both moments were very exiting and unpredictable. I liked the detail Roth put into each chapter it made it easy to picture what was going on and follow Beatrice in the book. The only thing I wished was changed abut the book is I would have liked the story told from an outside narrators prospective at times because I would have liked to know how Tobis felt at times in the story.
