Learning Target:
Read and mark the important details on how to be successful in Mrs. Muir's class.

Organization:
organization is the key to being successful in this class. You will be expected to keep a section in your binder specifically for E.L.A. You will keep your notes and activities in this section. You will also need to bring your planner to class daily. Binder organization will be checked regularly, and be a graded element of this class.

Daily Materials

  • 3 ring binder (at least 2 inches) with a tab for E.L.A.
  • Pens and pencils
  • Loose leaf paper
  • Your planner

Expectations

Consequences
If you choose to ignore or disrespect the classroom expectations or procedures, you are also choosing the consequences for doing so. Keep in mind that depending on the circumstances of the behavior; consequences may not follow any particular order.

Rewards
If you demonstrate positive behaviors and do well in class, you create an opportunity to be rewarded with classroom privileges or other incentives, but you should never ask for a reward. Let your behaviors and achievements speak for themselves.

100 percent rule
There will be days when you may not have 100 percent to give, your participation in class and classwork is still required 100 percent of the time.

Entering the classroom

  • Walk in RESPECTFULLY
  • Sit in YOUR ASSIGNED seat.
  • Place personal belongings UNDER your desk.
  • Begin your STARTER.

  • Your bottom is not in YOUR assigned seat.
  • You are TALKING.
  • You are not working on your STARTER.

In case the teacher is NOT PRESENT...

  • YOU WILL LINE UP
  • 1. Stand in two STRAIGHT lines. GIRLS on the LEFT, BOYS on the RIGHT.
  • 2. Face forward. No leaning on the wall.
  • 3. Stay SILENT.

Exiting the Classroom

  • Put MATERIALS away.
  • Floor COMPLETELY clean.
  • Sit QUIETLY and WAIT to be DISMISSED
  • The TEACHER will DISMISS you, not the bell

WORKING TOGETHER

  • Move desks TOGETHER quickly and quietly.
  • Stay in you SEAT.
  • Begin working IMMEDIATELY.
  • Keep the noise VOLUME low.

RESTROOM and WATER pass

  • You get TWO passes a SEMESTER per teacher
  • 1. Get the TEACHERS attention using SIGNAL.
  • 2. Fill in your AGENDA completely in PEN and place in the corner of your desk.
  • 3. WAIT patiently.
  • NO PLANNER=NO PASS

CHEWING GUM

  • It is NEVER appropriate to chew gum.
  • If you are chewing gum, spit it out BEFORE you enter class.
  • If you are asked to spit out your gum... DO NOT argue, complain, or lie.
  • DO NOT ACT like you are chewing gum! If you do your consequence will be the same as if you were.
