What is Extinction ?

Extinction of a particular animal or plant species occurs when there are no more individuals of that species alive anywhere in the world - the species has died out. This is a natural part of evolution.

Humans can cause extinction of a species through over harvesting, pollution, habitat destruction, over hunting and other influences.

A natural disaster is a major adverse event resulting from natural processes of the Earth; examples include floods, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, and other geologic processes.

How are natural disasters caused ?

Most natural disasters are caused by weather.
Some kinds of disasters are more common in some places than in others. When people are choosing a place to live they need to consider whether they will live on a fault line for an earthquake or near a river that has a history of flooding.
