EUTHANASIA DEFINITION

INTENTIONALLY ENDING SOMEONES LIFE TO RELIVE PAIN OR END SUFFERING

JACK KEVORKIAN

  • Jack Kevorkian was a patholigist(someone who examines tissue)
  • Jack was incharge of the deaths of 120 people.
  • He went to jail for 8 years
  • Was known as Dr. Death for all the deaths he caused

RELIGOUS ARGUMENTS

  • Most christians believe that humans shouldnt play god.
  • You shouldn't end someone's life when you want to
  • Christians believe that only God chooses when life ends
  • Going against god is considered a sin and bad in Christianity, Hinduism, and Judeism

SCHOLAR ARGUMENTS

Scholars from both faiths said that euthanasia and assisted suicide are okay in some situations

DNACPR

DNACPR means Do Not Attempt Cardio Pullmonary Resuscitation. This tells people that they would rather let themselves diet hand be saved. People wear a band that says do not attempt CPR

Sedative Medication

This is a type of medication used to put a patient to sleep when they are experiencing extreme pain

THE QUINLAN CASE

  • The Quinlan was a case of a 22 year old girl called Karen Anne Quinlan.
  • She was sick because she was in a hospital under a vegetative state.
  • After a couple of months her parents requested the hospital to discontinue active care and let her die.
  • The hospital refused and the parents tried to go against court
  • Eventually The Supreme Court ruled in their favor.

  • Then Karen died of Pneumonia
