INTRODUCTION

  • In the classroom, teachers use different voices to get their message across.
  • Theses voices can be the teacher's greatest tool.
  • There are three types: The Voice of Principle, The Voice of Procedure, and The Personal Voice

THE VOICE OF PRINCIPLE

  • Used to teach ethics
  • Refer to the "Golden Rule"
  • Stretch children's power to care
  • Empowers the learning community
  • Gives students choice in their actions

THE VOICE OF PROCEDURE

  • Not personal rules, but can be school or procedural rules.
  • Rules that govern the well-being of the school & community
  • Maintain safety & order.
  • Regulate practical matters such as:
  • Physical safety, games procedures, and allocation of privileges

PERSONAL VOICE

  • Does not have moral or procedural meaning behind it
  • Usually said in the "I voice."
  • Can be your strongest voice if not abused
  • Used in two ways:
  • Personal preferences and personal conviction & knowledge
