PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Don's Party

by David Williamson

Synopsis
It's election night 1969. Don and Kath, hope that there will be a change of government, and give a party to watch the results. As the tide turns against Labor, the good cheer palls and the faded ideals and disappointed hopes of the characters begin to show.

Don’s Party first appeared on the theatre scene in 1972 and had a similar impact that the character Cooley has when he arrives at the party. The play was like a ball of fire and challenged the existing pretensions of young educated professionals who saw the play and were depicted in the play.
