PRESENTATION OUTLINE

All about the "Base" and "Acids"

Where we`ll teach you the what and why "Acids" and "Base" are importants

What is "BASE"?

  • The base is a chemical substance that have a pH greater than seven.
  • Is seems like a liquid that is slippery to the touch, taste bitter and can change the color of indicators.
  • It react with mostly of the subtances that are equal or lower than seven ("Acids") to create substances like salt.
  • A greater pH it means "Stronger Base"
  • Is the negative form of "Acid"

wHAT IS "acid"

  • The "Acid" is a chemical substance that have a pH lower than seven
  • Is like a subtance that is liquid at the touch, with a sour taste, and even can turn blue if it mixed.
  • It can react with substance with seven or greater pH ("Base" and many metals)
  • A lower pH it means higher "Acidity"
  • Its the Positive form of "Base"

What happen if I mix an "acid" and a base?

  • When you mix Acid and Base subtances (better called an Acid-Base reaction) it create a substance that can be used to discover the "Acidity" and "Strongest Base Bonds" in fruits, metals and objects that cannot be analyzed very easily.
  • FUN FACT!: The first one to provided this concept it was the Chemistry scientific Antonie Lavoisier.

Where I can find acids and bases?

  • Acids can be find in products that have: Nitric Acids, Hydrochloric Acids, Sulfuric Acids, Perchloric Acids, Hydrobromic Acid, Hydroiodic, etc (Daily Market products like Lemons, Oranges and home cleaners)
  • Bases, by the other hand, can be found in mostly metals like: Lithium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, rubidium hydroxide, etc (Calcium, Potassium, Cesium, Etc)

What is ph?

  • pH is just an easy way to express the level of "Acidity" or Stong Base Bonds" have a water solution.
  • For example: The Orange juice have a Greater "Acidity" level making it an "Acid".

How I CAN CALCULATE THE ph of something?

  • Using the pH Box, we can calculate pH of liquid things. Using the central neutal point (Being water) we'll know if the liquid is More "Acidic" than 7 or not.

Buffer solution

  • A buffer solution is more precisely a mix between a strong Acid (For example an "Acid" with a level 12 of "Acidity") and a weak base (For example, a bese with a level 4 of "Acidity") and viceversa. This solution is used to make other susbtance to get more "Neutral" ("Acidity" level 7) and making a substance constant.

Self-Ionized Water

  • The Self-Ionization of water is a reaction in which H20 molecules loses the nucleus of one of its hydrogen atomos to become a hydroxide ion.
  • Pretty much, the water turns into a negative ion.
