WHAT IS A HABITAT

  • A habitat is the natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism.

ECOLOGY

  • Ecology is the branch of biology that deals with the relations of organisms to one another and to their physical surroundings.

ADAPTATION

  • Adaptation is the process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment.

CONSUMER

  • A consumer is an organism that feeds on other organisms in a food chain

PRODUCER

  • A producer is an organism capable of producing complex organic compounds from simple inorganic molecules through the process of photosynthesis or through chemosynthesis

HOW TO CARRY OUT A HABITAT STUDY

  • Draw a simple map of the habitat.
  • Measure and record the environmental features in the habitat.
  • Identify all the animals in the habitat.
  • Collect samples of the organisms that cannot be named.
  • Estimate the number of each plant in the habitat.
